It’s the ‘most wonderful time of the year’ again, the holiday season! Everyone is a little nicer to one another, family comes to visit and there’s just a feeling of love and happiness in the air. At least, for most people.
What are some of the things that you expect during the holiday season? Do you have any traditions that you do every year, like getting a new ornament for the tree, or giving your children pajamas on Christmas eve? These small details of our holiday season that we hold so dear are things the residents at Women’s Housing Coalition do not have.
Our residents have never been able to afford extra items to decorate their home. They’ve never been able to buy that extra present for their children ‘just because.’ These things that we so often take for granted have never even been possible for the women at WHC.
At Women’s Housing Coalition, our residents share a Christmas tree and presents are donated/given to them through the coalition. Can you imagine not being able to provide your loved ones with what they want during the holidays? It is not only heartbreaking, but detrimental on our residents’ self-esteem. Having an amazing community behind us that helps provide these simple elements of the holiday season helps to lift their spirits and takes some of the stress of the season off their shoulders. With your help, we can continue to support them in this way this year! If you’d like to donate, click here. We also accept in-kind donations, check out our list of needed items here.
