Bill Wells is a life-long Baltimore City resident with a passion for nonprofit and government excellence best practices. His driving motivation is to make places better for all who live and work in them, especially those with greater unmet needs or who have been historically marginalized.
To further this objective, Bill founded MDW Strategy, where he applies over 20 years of government and nonprofit consulting and direct government experience to the challenges faced by the public sector.
Bill’s direct government experience includes serving as the Deputy Director for the Baltimore City Mayor’s Office of Homeless Services (MOHS) and as the Senior Vice President for Business Strategy at Housing Authority of Baltimore City (HABC). He is proud to have been the Equity Coordinator and government relations coordinator among his roles at both HABC and MOHS.
For 12 years, Bill worked in various capacities at the University of Baltimore Schaefer Center for Public Policy to assist government and nonprofit organizations in finding data-based solutions to their myriad strategic and day-to-day challenges. Here, he also taught undergraduate and graduate classes in statistics, research methods, American Government, public policy, and policy analysis.
Bill is currently a board member and Secretary for nonprofit IDEAS Generation, Co-chair of the University of Baltimore College of Public Affairs Dean’s Advisory Board, and serves as a member of the Baltimore City Continuum of Care (CoC) and sits on its Governance Committee.
