Dear Friend & Supporter,

The Women’s Housing Coalition will be 45 years old in 2025! That’s 45 years of turning homelessness into hopefulness!

Forty-five years ago, a group of women in Baltimore who were concerned about the growing number of women and children experiencing homelessness started the Women’s Housing Coalition. For 45 years, we’ve focused on providing permanent housing backed by supportive services to address not only homelessness, but its root causes: a lack of affordable housing, health and mental health problems, substance abuse and addiction, and disparities in access to quality education, healthcare, and employment.

One of our former residents (Ronzie) summed up our philosophy perfectly: There are no throwaway people.

Our founders weren’t willing to look away from people who were living unsheltered, just as our supporters today refuse to look away.

Our work is needed now more than ever. The incoming administration is threatening to cut the housing budget and decimate proven, best practice programs.

We must only work harder, and we need your support like never before.

With your help, there can be joy and success for individuals experiencing homelessness. Bernice entered our program eight years ago. Permanent affordable housing gave her the stability to work hard at being a great mom while she battled serious health problems. She frequently expressed her appreciation for our support, crediting us with giving her more time to raise her two sons. Tragically, Bernice lost her health battle this month, yet she leaves behind two successful young men: one in college and the other on track to graduate from high school. Both benefited from the extra years with their mom in a secure home environment that we and supporters like you made possible.

This year, as we celebrate our 45th year of turning homelessness into hopefulness, please join us by becoming a sponsor of A Key of One’s Own – our annual, major fundraiser. This is our biggest opportunity of the year to raise money for housing as well as supplemental food, substance and mental health treatment, education, employment assistance, life skills trainings and ongoing case management. It also offers your organization our largest exposure and gives you a chance to be seen as a committed community partner.

Please join in and support our 45th year celebration as we recommit ourselves to our mission on behalf of our fellow Baltimore residents who are in need of a warm home and a helping hand.

Thank you for joining us as we celebrate 45 years of homelessness becoming hopefulness. Together, we are recommitting ourselves despite every challenge to this critical work on behalf of the women and children and individuals we serve.
